🔄 Rotate PDFTask Guide

Fix Rotated or Sideways PDF Pages

Correct page orientation in scanned PDFs — rotate individual pages 90, 180, or 270 degrees without re-scanning.

The Scenario

Scanners and phone cameras frequently produce PDFs with pages in the wrong orientation — sideways, upside down, or a mix of portrait and landscape. Rather than re-scanning, you can rotate individual pages digitally. This is especially common with automatic document feeders (ADFs) that occasionally grab pages at the wrong angle.

Why Privacy Matters Here

A rotated page in an otherwise professional document looks sloppy and is hard to read. But the document may contain signatures, stamps, or annotations that make re-scanning impractical or impossible. You need to fix the orientation without altering the content.

How to Do It

1

Upload the PDF

Drop your PDF with misoriented pages into the rotate tool.

2

Select pages and rotation

Choose which pages to rotate and by how many degrees: 90° clockwise, 90° counter-clockwise, or 180°. You can rotate individual pages independently.

3

Apply and download

Click apply. The corrected PDF downloads with all pages in the right orientation.

Tips

  • Preview each page before rotating — some pages that appear sideways in thumbnail view are actually correct at full size.
  • For PDFs where every page is rotated the same way (common with ADF scanner errors), use the "rotate all" option rather than page-by-page.
  • Rotation does not affect image quality — it changes the page display direction metadata, not the pixel data.
  • After fixing rotation, consider adding page numbers to create a polished final document.

Why Browser-Based Processing Matters

Scanned documents with orientation issues are often originals — signed contracts, notarized forms, court filings. Fixing them locally means the originals never leave your device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does rotation reduce image quality?

No. PDF rotation modifies a page-level display property — it does not re-render or re-encode the page content. The image data is byte-for-byte identical before and after rotation.

Can I rotate just one page in a multi-page PDF?

Yes. Select individual pages for rotation while leaving others unchanged. This is common when an ADF scanner rotates one page in a batch.

What if my PDF has a mix of portrait and landscape pages?

Each page can be rotated independently. Rotate only the pages that need correction — landscape pages that are intentionally landscape (like wide tables) should be left as-is.
